Education building, St. Lawrence Street, Madoc: Previously used as a jail, later as a township hall and most recently as an education building, this structure was built in the late 19th century in an eclectic Second Renaissance Revival style. Neo-Gothic elements like pendant cross- bracing in the front gable end and the small tower-like roof ventilator are combined with the Renaissance round- headed window and door openings.
