Sir James Whitney School, Belleville: The building is of an eclectic Tudor- Gothic Revival style, built in the 1920s. The Tudor arches of the door and window openings are very prominent. The brick walls include smooth stone quoins and trims for the window and door openings. Window openings are formed of four windows, separated by a stone mullion and transom bar in the shape of a cross. The partly crenellated parapets give a medieval military touch to the building. The end gables are carefully detailed with stone hood molds and drop labels over the windows. . . During the Second World War the school was used as an RCAF training school, from 1941 to 1944. More than 131,000 airmen from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States received their initial training here. Of these, 70,000 were Canadians.
