Altitudes. TO THE HIGHER GROUND. The northern limits of Hastings County are definitely the higher ground. As one drives north on Highway 62 from Madoc, there is a distinct feeling of pushing onward into higher altitudes. The water in Belleville Harbour on the Bay of Quinte, depending on the level of Lake Ontario, is at 75 metres (245 feet) above mean sea level. From there the land rises slowly to the central part of Hastings, then more sharply toward Bancroft. Maynooth is higher still, and hills in Hastings Highlands reach as high as 488 metres (1,600 feet).
Elevations: Belleville Harbour (Lake Ontario) 75m 245ft; Deloro 198m 650ft; Madoc 200m 656ft; Eldorado 259m 850ft; Bancroft 365m 1200ft; Boulter 365m 1200ft
