Splotches on the Environment 1. The Richmond dump, a landfill site, is a man-made hill of garbage near Napanee. 2. Zwick’s Island was formerly a garbage dump in the marshes at the edge of the Bay of Quinte. 3. The Bay of Quinte has been named one of the environmental hotspots in the Great Lakes. 4. Old gold mines at Deloro have long been a source of arsenic contamination. 5. The Moira River carries agricultural and other contaminants to the Bay of Quinte. 6. Tanneries and other industries dumped waste contaminants into the Trent River. 7. Even in northern Hastings air pollution can occasionally be as severe as in large cities.
